NYC Real Estate Tech Week 2019 was the biggest so far! The energy this entire week, the number of attendees, and the quality of the companies and panels throughout every single event topped everything we have seen in the past and surpassed our expectations.

You could feel the energy throughout the whole week, which reminded us of just how buoyant the PropTech industry is right now.

As we wrap up another successful NYC RE Tech Week we want to thank our Gold Sponsor Goodwin, as well as our Innovation Sponsors Brookfield, Jamestown, RXR and Thornton Tomasetti, for continuously supporting the growth and advancement of the PropTech sector and its different members.

If you weren’t able to attend, or if you were there and want to relive this exciting week, we have compiled some highlights for you.

BUILDING THE FUTURE - PRESENTED BY PROPMODO

NYC Real Estate Tech Week kicked off with an event by Propmodo at The Times Center featuring MetaProp’s own Zach Aarons who gave a dramatic keynote about the connectedness of ancient cultures and the collective conscience. His unique presentation created a lot of buzz and still has people talking. Look for the video of that to drop soon.

The event also featured a panel discussion about how developers and building managers are making supertall skyscrapers more attractive places to work, and a panel discussion about the trends and innovations that will reshape cities in the coming decade.

The afterparty, held aboard a yacht, was such a hit that the Propmodo team has said they plan on making it a regular event so be on the lookout for that next year as well.

MIPIM PROPTECH NYC IN PARTNERSHIP WITH METAPROP NYC

Last week was the fourth annual MIPIM Proptech NYC event. Hosted at the Metropolitan Pavilion, the flagship conference for NYC RE Tech Week drew in over two thousand attendees and more than eight hundred companies. Of those attending, 40% were foreign delegates representing countries like Japan, Holland, France, Israel, the UK, Sweden, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil.

The conference had great keynotes and panels, as well as a handful of startups showcasing their latest innovations.

The topics discussed on the keynotes and panels covered a broad range of topics. Some of the trends that were highlighted included; cybersecurity, energy efficiency, AI and machine learning, the state of different PropTech ecosystems across the globe, co-living, the future of mobility, and lastly, the winners of the 2019 Proptech Awards.

MIPIM Proptech NYC is all about bringing real estate technology innovation and the built world together. Building off of this premise, the Deputy Mayor of Housing and Economic Development for New York City unveiled an excellent opportunity for PropTech startups. It was announced that the city will host pilot programs that allow companies to implement a proof of concept in their 326.1M SQFT of owned and managed space. This new initiative provides a huge opportunity for companies to show off their technology, and help accelerate the Real Estate capital of the world into a smart city.

Four years ago marked the first MIPIM Proptech NYC, and it was a free event with a couple of hundred attendees. This flagship event has grown in size and has become essential to the PropTech industry. As the conference has developed, it’s with great excitement that we announced that we’re moving the 2020 MIPIM Proptech NYC to the notorious Javits Center. Hosting the event at the Javits Center will give us an enormous amount of real estate for the event and will allow us to put on the best conference to date.
