The Job

The Interim CFO is a new role within our fast growing investment and advisory firm.  This part-time leader will work cross-functionally with the MetaProp NYC Accelerator @ Columbia University, MPNYC venture funds, and MetaProp Advisors business leaders to oversee internal management financial reporting and to support and advise on financial decision making. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, “get stuff done” individual to enjoy an exciting yet de-risked entrepreneurial environment.   The Interim CFO can expect an intense ramp-up period followed by decreased involvement and, eventually, a successor transition.  The Interim CFO will report to MetaProp Co-Founder and Managing Director Aaron Block.

 

About You

  • 8+ years experience in finance and accounting roles

  • Able to work autonomously while communicating w/ colleagues regularly

  • Familiarity with start-ups and entrepreneurial environments with scarce resources

  • Experience with collaborative technologies including Xero and Google’s GSuite.

  • Real estate industry, professional services industry, and/or financial services expertise preferred but not required

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive consolidated financial reporting package (including current and YTD P&L, cash flows, and balance sheet with narrative analyses) on a monthly basis

  • Work with senior executives to develop and maintain 12 month rolling budget/forecast with quarterly reforecasts

  • Lead monthly meetings and quarterly reviews with MetaProp partners to discuss problem/opportunity areas.

  • Deliver quarterly advisory board package financial reports

  • Assist with ad-hoc due diligence

  • Create finance/accounting strategy and draft and maintain written standard operating procedures for all day-to-day work to ensure efficiency and internal controls

  • Manage outsourced bookkeeper, outsourced payroll and guide in-house finance/accounting activities

  • Prepare and regularly update employee equity and advisory warrant tracking worksheets.

  • Other tasks as directed by Managing Director


 

Hours and Compensation

  • Approximately 20-40 hours per week
