When should I apply for MetaProp NYC?
Applications for the 2016/2017 class open May 1, 2016 and close on July 31st, 2016. We encourage you to apply early!
How long does the program run?
The program will run for 22 weeks. 2016/2017 class orientation begins the week of September 1, 2016.
How does the application process work?
The application is completed online. You will get an email confirmation after submitting the application. MetaProp NYC will finish reviewing applications by August 10, 2016 and notify all applicants of their status by August 15, 2016. If selected for the next stage, you will receive an email from us inviting you to interview with the Accelerator team.
What stage company is the optimal fit for the MetaProp NYC program?
Our accelerator is built to help you acquire and retain customers. Typically, Accelerator companies will have an MVP and existing pilots or customers to demonstrate product-market fit.
Does my startup need to be in NYC for the duration of the program? Do I have to stay in NYC when the program ends?
Your job is to grow your business. You are not required to relocate to New York City before, during or after the program. However, the founders and key executives of your startup should be able to attend office hours, evening programming, education sessions and special events in New York City. These will usually be held on Thursdays (afternoon and evening) and Fridays (morning). Program participants will receive a full schedule of events closer to the program’s start.
What else does MetaProp NYC provide? Office space, internet, legal, hosting, etc?
Early stage: a $25,000 equity investment for 6% of common stock plus potential for $175,000 cash in the form of a convertible note
- Later stage: custom financing and 3% common advisory shares vesting over 3 years at time of program start
22 week program focused on driving business growth and accelerated market penetration, including:
- Curated access and introductions to decision-makers, pilots, premier sources of global investment capital and media
- Weekly Silicon Valley Bank Guest Speaker Series
- 301 Real Estate curriculum led by esteemed adjunct professors
Class-A office space in the heart of NYC’s real estate/technology start-up community
Participation in exclusive Pilot Days and Demo Days, as well as discounted or free attendance at dozens of local, national and international industry roundtables and networking events
Pairing with select C-level mentors from MetaProp’s RE200 industry mentor network covering each of the 10 major real estate disciplines
Access to all MetaProp Advisors services during the program including strategy, fundraising, media relations and PR, in-house recruiting, business development, sales and digital marketing
Access to corporate program partners as well as free goods and services valued at over $200,000
How does MetaProp NYC deal with our intellectual property?
Every idea and application that comes our way is treated as confidential information.
How much funding do MetaProp NYC companies receive?
We invest up to $250,000 in all MetaProp NYC accelerator participants. Custom financing is available for later stage companies.
Can I apply if our company or founders are not from the USA? Can you help with visa / immigration issues?
Yes. We have experience with overseas relocation.
How do you choose which companies to accept into the program and to fund?
MetaProp NYC finalists and program participants are evaluated against more than 20 independent criteria. Some of the most important selection criteria include:
- Real estate technologies addressing a large market need
- Technical co-founder
- Credibility of core team and track record of milestone achievement
